Saving Prompts
Building a personal library of effective prompts is one of the most valuable features of PromptCue. Learn how to save, organise, and reuse your best prompts for consistent results.
Why Save Prompts?
- Reuse successful prompts for similar tasks without starting from scratch
- Build templates for your common workflows and processes
- Share with team members to standardise your organisation's AI practices
- Track what works and iterate on your most effective approaches
How to Save a Prompt
There are two ways to save prompts in PromptCue, depending on whether you want to save the exact prompt you've built or create a shareable version.
Method 1: Save from the Prompt Builder
- 1
Build your prompt using any framework on the main page. Fill out all the parameters and review the generated prompt to make sure it's exactly what you want.
- 2
Click "Save Prompt" in the Generated Prompt section. You'll find this button next to the "Copy Prompt" button. You must be signed in to save prompts.
- 3
Enter a descriptive name for your prompt. Choose a name that will help you find and identify this prompt later. Be specific about its purpose.
- 4
Click "Save" to add it to your library. Your prompt will be saved with all the parameter values you entered, ready to use again.
Method 2: Share to Organisation (Team Members)
If you're part of an organisation, you can also save prompts directly to your team workspace:
- 1
Click "Share to Org" instead of "Save Prompt"
- 2
Select which organisation to share with
- 3
Enter a name and click "Share to Organisation"
Best Practices for Naming Prompts
Good naming conventions make it much easier to find and reuse your saved prompts:
❌ Poor Names
- • "Email prompt"
- • "RTCI test"
- • "Product thing"
- • "Untitled prompt"
- • "New prompt 1"
✅ Good Names
- • "Product launch email - SaaS"
- • "Blog post outline - RTCI"
- • "Customer support response"
- • "Social media caption - lifestyle"
- • "Research summary - academic"
What Gets Saved
When you save a prompt, PromptCue stores:
- The framework used (e.g., RTCI, CO-STAR)
- All parameter values you entered
- The complete generated prompt text
- Creation and modification dates
- Your custom name and any notes
Accessing Your Saved Prompts
Once you've saved prompts, you can access them through the "Saved Prompts" page in the main navigation. From there, you can:
Quickly copy any saved prompt to use in your AI tools without rebuilding it.
Modify saved prompts to adapt them for new situations or improve their effectiveness.
Create shareable links for individual prompts or share them with your organisation.
Use the search function to quickly find specific prompts in your growing library.
💡 Pro Tips
- Save variations: Create multiple versions of successful prompts for different contexts
- Include keywords: Add relevant keywords to prompt names to make searching easier
- Regular cleanup: Periodically review and delete prompts that no longer work well
- Test before saving: Always test your prompt in an AI tool before saving it to your library
